Wow... my family used to go there over 20 years ago. Out of the 100's of concerts I've seen, MBV still ranks up there as one of the best shows I've ever seen (ignoring the intense ringing ears for a few days after the fact).

It's not where I went as a kid (that was Grossingers and other places that are no longer) but as a young teen.

We used to go up Christmastime every year for a few years. Lots of food. Remember playing a bit of ping pong and bingo. They had nightclub entertainment including Latoya Jackson one year (shortly after her Penthouse spread with the snake); don't remember any of the other performers.

One intriguing secret is that the room keys are interchangeable. I remember someone asking to use my room key because they were locked out and they were right. Hopefully, they've changed that. Also, back then the dollar bill changer in the arcade took photocopied dollar bills although I'm sure that's changed as well.

Yes, I like Mogwai very much! Check out their myspace page - I think there's a good smattering of songs on there. I bet you'll appreciate them...and keep in mind, they're always better live than on record. They're VERY loud.

Don't worry about the complication - it's all worth it. Speaking as a veteran of three ATP festivals in the UK, I can say it's a very special event that I've never found anywhere else before. The small size, the intimacy, being surrounded by such friendly, hardcore, invested fans is truly an experience unlike any other.
